This is a 1929 US Number 30 outfit. The numbering scheme was changed in 1929 to 0, 5 Special, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70. As best as I can determine, these were equivalent to the old 00, 00 with motor, 1, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and 6x respectively. Thus, the number 30 would have been the equivalent of the No. 2x. This particular outfit seems to be a 30 plus a 30a - there are many parts which were not in the No. 30, but were in the No. 40. The box is marked "No. 30," the dividers in this box are not original, and the card mounted in the lid where many of the parts were displayed is missing. |
